Relocations for Table 1i - Common auxiliaries of point of view

Notes

In response to inquiries from users, we offer here a complete list of relocations of the obsolete 'Common auxiliaries of point of view'. The philosophy behind the cancellation of this common auxiliary table has been explained in articles Extensions and Corrections:

Robinson, Geoffrey. An odd point of view: some reflections on Table 1i in the UDC Common auxiliaries. Extensions and Corrections to the UDC, No. 19 (1997), pages 29-31.

Broughton, Vanda. The revision process in UDC: an examination of the systematic auxiliary of 'Point-of-view' using facet-analytical methods. Extensions and Corrections to the UDC, No. 20 (1998), pages 17-20.

Relocations of the contents of Table 1i appeared in stages in Extensions and Corrections, No. 19 (1997) and No. 23 (2001). They are now united, with adjustments to the earlier entries to allow for recent revisions (e.g. of 2 'Religion'). It will be seen that many of the relocation notes refer to the new class 005 'Management', which also appeared in Extensions and Corrections No. 23, and most of the others refer to other auxiliary tables, particularly those of Properties -02, Materials -03 and Persons -05.

Because of the many references to main class 0 and the -0 auxiliaries in Table 1k, particular care should be taken to distinguish between 0..., .0... and -0...

Where the relocation reference is to a main number, it is assumed that the user will create colon combinations as required.

Relocations

x .000

(Writer's or author's point of view) use colon combination, e.g.

008:275.4 Civilization, culture from the Calvinist viewpoint
2-181.5:575.8 Creation of man from the point of view of evolutionary theory
327.362:355 Pacifist movements from the military, defence point of view
327.39(6):329.14 Pan-Africanism from the socialist viewpoint
342.4:329.61 The constitution in relation to illegal parties and movements
343:141.45 Criminal law from the atheist viewpoint

821.133.1-2:141.32 French drama from the existentialist viewpoint
If required, authorial bias may be denoted by the subdivisions of -056.15 from Table 1k 'Common auxiliaries of persons and personal characteristics', e.g.
613.888:272-056.153 Contraception: pro-Roman-Catholic viewpoint
